I have barely started getting into Live 6 on the laptop, and preparing for the transition onto the Mac Pro when Ableton does it again and announces Live 7 for the end of the year.
I guess they can't win because they always offer such real improvements with each upgrade unlike some of the more cosmetic competitive upgrades and this time Live 7 is to be no exception, in particular offering
- time changes within a set which will end my need to move compositions to another DAW for this feature.
- improved 64 bit summing - so perhaps no more carping about Live not having the " quality" for the final mix
- (yes yes) comprehensive side chaining within the DAW.
- the drum rack looks Ableton category awesome in its flexibility and ability to link with other soft-resources such as Operator
- and at last full REX support - and I have just upgraded to Reason 4 for a commendably reasonable £60 - Thor is sounding awesome folks and may spell the end of real world Roland sounds.
See what's new here
Is it truly becoming "the complete DAW" while retaining what we love about the original "instrument"?
And get saving cos it won't be cheap . . .
So fun article is! I agree the idea!
